Our Team.

All members of our team are indigenous Hawaiians who have been on the frontlines advocating for housing, environmental justice, clean water, and Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian self-determination for many years. 

 

Healani Sonoda-Pale, is the 2025 Recipient of the Rachel's Network Catalyst Award and was honored by the Hawai'i State House for her efforts to protect O'ahu's water. She has been an educator for over thirty years and is a mother of two and lives on O'ahu with her husband.  She has organized many large marches and demonstrations for the protection of our sacred land, water, and cultural practices.  

 

Bronson Kainoa Azama is  Kanaka Maoli youth who was featured in Teen Vogue for his work as a water protector and was in the 2023-2024 class of UNITY Earth Ambassadors.  He has won many accolades for his work in environmental justice and has served as the President of the Associated Students of the University of Hawai'i and the President of Honolulu Youth Commission.

Leianuenue Niheu is the Co-Chair of the Ka Lāhui Hawaiʻi Komike Kalai'āina is a member of the Nuclear Free and Independent Pacific group and Mauna Medic Hui.  She is an artist who was born and raised on Hawaiian Homesteads.

Nani Omerod is a member of the Papakolea Community Association and is a Kanaka Maoli homesteader.  She is a mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother.
