Hurricane Lala Relief

On August 15, 2026, Hurricane Lala passed just south of Hawaiʻi Island as a Category 1 hurricane, bringing destructive winds, torrential rain, severe flooding, and widespread damage to communities across the islands, with Kaʻū among the hardest hit.

In response, Kākoʻo Lāhui, the nonprofit fiscal sponsor of Ka Lāhui Hawaiʻi, and Nā Wāhine Koʻi organized the delivery of supplies on August 20 to support the establishment of a community relief hub in Makakupu (Wood Valley), Kaʻū. We are also coordinating with grassroots organizations from across the pae ʻāina to gather and transport urgently needed supplies to Kaʻū.

We are so proud of the groundwork of Nā Wāhine Koʻi and our partners across the islands, including Nā Hala o Naue on Kauaʻi, who are coming together to mālama our communities during this critical time.
